Thomas Wolbers
Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Cognitive and Neural Systems at the University of Edinburgh
Wolbers' research program is unified by an interest in how the human brain processes spatial information and how this information is stored in long-term memory. To achieve these goals, he employs functional and structural brain imaging, immersive virtual environments and eye movement recordings.
Wolbers has published a number of seminal papers on mental imagery and navigation that have shaped the way we think about spatial information processing in the human brain. More recently, he has become interested in how visually impaired people compute spatial information. In collaboration with LEGO, he is working on projects aimed at characterising spatial learning from non-visual cues such as touch.
